COBRA SOCIETY – The Cobra is an ancient sacred symbol, representing eternity, protection, rebirth, and transformation. Like its namesake, Cobra Society’s luxury accessories evoke a heritage of ancient times; honoring traditional and handcrafted Moroccan artistry with the lasting quality, structure and street style for today’s fearless fashion influencers.
Designer Alex Davis, named “The Next Global Style Hunter” by Vogue UK, combines her love of North African culture and expression through accessories to create one-of-a-kind styles that have traveled far and wide before each wearer. Supporting villages of women in the middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco, and a talented male weaver in the North, each kilim rug was intricately hand-dyed and woven with a unique symbolic meaning through its pattern.
The Fall 2012 collection, “Jewels of the Desert Warriors” introduces an evolution of Davis’s classic styles. Inspired by a recent trip to Greece, Davis sought out the richest of colors for the line, hand sourcing vibrant leathers from Spain and developing custom Moroccan kilim hues to achieve the deep jewel tones strung throughout: fiery cherry red suedes and Madder Root kilims, deep blue “Mar” leather and navy nubucks, indigo “evil eye” Byzantine inspired patterned kilims, luxurious cognacs, and Bavarian taupe leathers.
“Jewels of the Desert Warriors” elaborates on intricate accents, incorporating bright teal suede pipings, interior leather and kilim linings that can be worn with versatility, and bronze toe/heel pieces that emulate the actual rug pattern. New high-heeled styles are offered in the essential ZEUS (over-the-knee) and ALCAZAR (mid-calf) styles. The men’s STEWY (loafer) is now offered in a range of colors and Betania fabrics. Attention to detail and innovation is found in the new handbags with the REIDIE (an all-rug fold over pouch) containing a unique, built-in 3 finger right to keep it secure on your shoulder, the MOSES (fringe pouchette), inspired by a vintage Moroccan cigarette case, and the classic TRICIA (clutch), reveals a beautiful suede interior lining.
Honoring the traditional “Good Year Welt” construction, each sole is hand sewn to its heel, creating unsurpassed comfort and quality.
Virtuous materials and composition are the cornerstone of Cobra Society’s unique luxury: beautifully designed, lastingly constructed, versatile and timeless. Enjoy Cobra Society in the city, at the souk, in the country, or at the beach.
